Democrats Love “Mavericks” as Long as They Don’t Screw Up Their Plans
Leftists are losing their minds over Senators Manchin and Sinema because they aren't helping them destroy the Senate for their political gain

Senator John McCain went back and forth from getting accused of racism, stoking hate, and getting compared to George Wallace to praising him for his “maverick” style of politics when it suited Democrat political purposes.
McCain was a nemesis of conservatives whenever they wanted to pass major legislation or overturn Democrat policies. He ran a pathetic campaign in 2008 against Barack Obama and refused to attack the way he should have. Democrats praised him for taking the high road in the campaign and for him standing on his principles against what they call an extremist party.
Democrats are getting a taste of their own medicine because they have two “mavericks” in their party blocking their goals. Senator Joe Manchin voted no on Biden’s Build Back Better agenda because it was too much spending and couldn’t justify it to his constituents. Senator Kyrsten Sinema is making headlines with Manchin because she won’t do the Democrats bidding for a filibuster carveout for a so-called voting rights bill.
Both of those legislative items were critical for Democrats to pass before the 2022 midterms. Manchin and Sinema aren’t getting any praise for going against the party line by standing up for their principles. Where is the adulation from the mainstream media and their Democrat colleagues for them doing the same kind of things McCain did to the Republicans? Don’t they love mavericks and people who stand up for what they believe in?
Democrats are getting a taste of their own medicine because they have two “mavericks” in their party who are blocking their goals.
Luis Avila, a progressive organizer with the Primary Sinema Project, said, “I don’t know what she gains from doing what she did. ... Either she delivers on the policies that we're asking for or she's out.” Arizona Democratic Party Chair Raquel Terán said, “We are disappointed to say the least that she has chosen to protect an antiquated rule over her constituents.” California Rep. Maxine Waters (D) claims to know what they think by saying they don’t care about minorities and Black people because of their stances.
This criticism is different from what the mainstream media said about McCain when he was the 51st vote to thwart Obamacare repeal in 2017. Disgraced NBC host Brian Williams called him a “profile in courage.” The New York Times said McCains stand would be “long remembered” and a “stunning moment.” Various CNN hosts called it “stunning” and “breathtaking.” Don’t hold your breath for Don Lemon or Joy Reid to use the same descriptions for Manchin and Sinema.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone to see Democrats get angry over a couple of their own standing on their principles. They loved McCain only when he did what they wanted him to do. It’s obvious the Left doesn’t like when their leaders stand up for their beliefs when it doesn’t help them. The Left is phony and insincere because they will call the next McCain a racist or whatever the popular attack is the moment when he/she does something they don’t like.
