Why Can't the Republican Party Walk and Chew Gum at the Same Time?
Republicans have forgotten fiscal responsibility while battling endless culture wars started by the Left
The Left has Republicans exactly where they want them. Their invented race, immigration, and gender wars have taken all attention from Republicans away from fiscal responsibility. We can’t go a week without Joe Biden coming up with another multi-trillion-dollar plan to put us further into debt we won’t get under control unless Republicans learn to do more than one thing at a time.
The Tea Party fought Obama but there’s no opposition like them to Biden’s out-of-control spending. Where are the new versions of Rubio and Cruz that came out of the early 2010s? Biden’s spending programs could hurt America much more than Obamacare and no one cares. Republicans are just sitting back and hoping Joe Manchin (D) stays true to his word to keep the filibuster intact and stop Biden's incomprehensible spending.
Their invented race, immigration, and gender wars have taken all attention from Republicans away from fiscal responsibility.
Republicans are afraid of getting called racist AND for throwing grandma over the cliff by proposing fiscal responsibility and entitlement reform. The Left is more than capable of throwing multiple kinds of attacks. Republicans can’t even mock the Left effectively for their ideas on race, never mind form an argument that shows how irresponsible and stupid their big government plans are. The last Republican in the House to care about fiscal issues was Paul Ryan, but he couldn’t have been a more milquetoast messenger.
President Trump was great on so many issues, but he couldn’t have been much worse on spending. He sped up the pace of us going over the financial cliff and had no interest in preventing it. No Republican with future political ambitions wants to get on Trump’s bad side, so this is why none of them are taking a stance on this issue. If they didn’t have a problem with excessive spending under Trump, it makes it harder to all of a sudden be against it now.
Republicans can’t even mock the Left effectively for their ideas on race, never mind form an argument that shows how irresponsible and stupid their big government plans are.
America has been fortunate we haven’t had doomsday predictions of deficit spending happen. Inflation is going to become a bigger issue as everyday items become more expensive. Gas prices have artificially skyrocketed under Joe Biden and grocery prices will continue to rise the rest of the year. Lumber prices are up 67% this year and 340% from a year ago which drives up the cost of new homes. The 0.6% increase in the Consumer Price Index was the biggest since 2012 and there’s no reason why it would slow down.
Republicans must make spending and inflation an issue in 2022 and 2024. Americans are already feeling the difference in their bank accounts. This is a golden opportunity for Republican congressional candidates to provide a clear message why this is the Democratic Party’s fault. Conservatives know Trump was terrible on this issue so candidates shouldn’t be afraid to break with him. Republicans will need to ask voters if they are happy with how much they are spending on necessities than two years ago.
